Eligibility

Who can apply, and who should not start an application.

Published criteria

  • You must be a UK-resident active director or a 25%+ majority shareholder.
  • Your business must be an active UK Ltd, LLP or PLC listed at Companies House, without unsatisfied CCJs in the last 12 months and outside the provider’s high-risk industries.
  • Sole traders, charities, trusts, funds, Royal Charters, and dormant, dissolved or inactive companies are not eligible under the provider’s published criteria.

Do not rely on this offer if…

  • You are a sole trader or your company is dormant, dissolved, inactive, a charity, trust, fund or Royal Charter.
  • You cannot accept a personal guarantee or do not have a credible plan to make required repayments.
  • You are applying only for points rather than because the revolving credit facility suits your working-capital needs.

Credit-search timeline

A soft personal search comes first; the business hard search comes later.

Capital on Tap says it makes a soft search of your personal credit file at application, which it says is visible only to you and does not affect your score. If you are offered credit and decide to sign the credit agreement, it says it then makes a hard search of the business credit file, visible to other lenders. That distinction does not mean approval is guaranteed and it does not remove the potential consequences of a personal guarantee if the business does not repay.

  1. 01

Apply with your personal and company details.

Have your legal business name, registration number, address, monthly turnover, personal details and settlement-bank information ready. The provider’s published criteria say the company must be active at Companies House.

  2. 02

Review any offer of credit before signing.

Compare the offered variable rate, credit limit, repayment date, minimum payment, interest treatment and guarantee terms with your cash-flow plan. A decision in minutes is not a reason to accept without reading the agreement.

  3. 03

Sign only if the facility is affordable.

The provider says it conducts the business hard search when you sign the credit agreement. Once open, the account is a revolving credit facility; meeting the required repayment shown on your statement is essential.

Credit and repaymentA revolving credit facility. Individual rate, limit, interest-free treatment, fees and required minimum payment appear in your offer, agreement and statement. Credit is subject to status and affordability.

Capital on Tap advertises rates as low as 13.86% APR (variable) on its card page, but your rate depends on your personal and business credit history and the Bank of England base rate. Never present an advertised “from” rate as the rate you will receive. If you carry a balance, interest may apply; check the agreement and make at least the required minimum payment on time.

How to qualify for the 7,500 points

Keep the code, transaction and account-status evidence.

  1. 01

    Use the SETTINGUP partner route.

Confirm the code or partner promotion is acknowledged before submitting your application. Save a timestamped screenshot of the route and offer page.

  2. 02

Be approved and enter the required agreements.

The terms apply only after a successful application. Read both the credit and e-money agreement rather than assuming the reward is payable at application.

  3. 03

Make a completed qualifying transaction in the three-month period.

The provider’s partner terms refer to a completed card or cash transaction. The same terms exclude certain transaction types from rewards. Keep the settled transaction record and check the exclusions before relying on a particular payment.

  4. 04

Keep the account open and in good standing for validation.

The provider says it reviews the period after it ends and credits the points within 60 days when conditions are met. Keep the promotion screenshot, approval date, transaction record, statements and support correspondence.

Common failure scenarios

Wrong legal structure

A sole trader can be a strong business, but it is not an eligible structure for this product. Use a provider that explicitly accepts sole traders instead of applying on the basis of old guidance.

Code or route missing

Do not assume a manually entered code, generic link or a different referral route is equivalent. Capture the error and ask provider support before submitting duplicate applications.

Reward expected too soon

The current published terms use a three-month promotion period and a subsequent validation window. Plan your cash flow without treating 7,500 points as immediate value.

Suitability

When an alternative may be better.

Consider a business bank account or a debit-card spending tool if you do not need borrowing. Consider a fixed-term loan or specialist asset finance if you need predictable finance for a one-off purchase. If cash flow is unstable, a rewards credit card can magnify pressure through interest and missed-payment consequences; seek debt advice or talk to the lender before borrowing more.

Capital on Tap promo code FAQ

The key questions before clicking through.

What is the Capital on Tap promo code on this page?

SETTINGUP is the partner-route code shown here. Under the provider’s published 7,500-point partner terms, an eligible new customer must apply through a participating partner, make a completed qualifying card or cash transaction during the three months after approval, and keep the account open and in good standing until the points are due.

Can a sole trader apply for Capital on Tap?

No. Capital on Tap’s published eligibility says its business credit card is for active UK Ltd companies, LLPs and PLCs. Applicants must be a UK-resident active director or 25%+ majority shareholder. Sole traders are listed as not eligible.

Will an application affect my personal credit score?

Capital on Tap says it performs a soft search on your personal credit file when you apply, which it says does not affect your personal score. It says a hard search is made on the business credit file only when you sign the credit agreement.

Is Capital on Tap a charge card that must be cleared in full each month?

No. The provider’s legal materials describe a revolving credit facility. You must make the required repayments shown in your agreement and statement; carrying a balance can result in interest, so read the rate, repayment and minimum-payment terms before you use the card.

How are the 7,500 points paid?

The provider reviews the three-month promotion period after approval. If the conditions are met, its published terms say the bonus points are credited within 60 days after that period ends, provided the credit account remains open and in good standing.
